SUMMARY

Performs a full range of engineering tasks.  Requires considerable engineering skill, creative ability, and independent judgment. Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following; other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Responsible for the transition of new products from Engineering to Manufacturing.
  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods and overall processes. Related issues including: process development, creating process documentation (product routers), product assembly, production processing, problem solving, and project management.
  • Responsible for following quality systems and Tempest procedures developed by API.
  • Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods according to specification and quality standard.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Responsible for resolving electrical and mechanical problems in the production area. Interface with Engineering as required. Attend engineering design reviews and provide input to manufacturing and scheduling.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
